I built Mona Medical to practice medicine the way it should feel: unhurried, personal, and complete.

I'm Dr. Lorena Monarrez, founder of Mona Medical. I studied Human Biology at Stanford with a focus in neuropsychology, earned my medical degree at UCSF, and spent much of my career in emergency medicine.

That experience, and my own journey through a prolonged illness, taught me that good medicine takes more than expertise. It takes time to hear the full story, judgment to see how different concerns connect, and openness to thoughtful complementary approaches when conventional medicine doesn't provide every answer.

Salinas is our home base, where the full team sees patients; in Carmel, Dr. Monarrez sees patients personally. One tip: the booking page may open on either office, so check the location menu at the top right and choose Salinas or Carmel before you pick a service. Telehealth is available to anyone in California.

Do I need to be an existing patient to book Botox?

No. New patients can book online with Cristina, PA-C, or with Dr. Monarrez. Your first visit starts with a conversation about how you'd like to look and move, then treatment the same day if it's right for you.

Do you take insurance?

Mona Medical is a cash-pay practice, which is what allows us to spend real time with each patient. We accept credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards for eligible medical services, and Cherry payment plans. You'll always know the cost before you commit.

Can I be seen by telehealth?

Yes. Weight management, hormone therapy, and concierge visits are available by secure video to anyone in California. Aesthetic treatments are performed in person in Salinas or Carmel.

Which office should I choose?

Whichever is easier for you. Salinas, on East Romie Lane near the hospital district, is our main office, where the full team sees patients. In Carmel, in the Carmel Rancho area off Highway 1, Dr. Monarrez sees patients personally.
